Find christmas gifts for older kids at KONGES SLØJD
By six and beyond, children know what they're into. At KONGES SLØJD, our christmas gifts for older kids are chosen with that in mind — toys, clothing and small extras that fit a child's growing interests, rather than gifts that feel left over from a younger age.
The range covers hobbies, outdoor play and everyday clothing, so there's something here whether a child spends their free time outside, drawing, or deep into a favourite game.
Christmas gifts for hobbies and interests
By this age, most children have a thing they're into — building, drawing, collecting, or a particular sport. A gift that feeds that interest directly tends to land better than something more generic, even if it costs a little less.
Creative kits, building sets and books that match a child's current obsession are usually a safer bet than guessing at something new entirely.
Christmas gifts for outdoor play
Older kids are often faster, steadier and more confident outside than they were a year or two earlier. A bike, scooter or a piece of outdoor gear tends to get real use, especially for children who already spend a lot of their free time outdoors.
Clothing matters here too — a decent coat or a warm jumper gets more use through a long winter than most toys do.
Games and books for growing readers
Board games with a bit more strategy, and books with longer stories, start to suit this age well. Many children this age are reading on their own or close to it, which opens up a much wider range of books than a year or two before.
A good game also tends to outlast most toys, coming out again at birthdays, holidays and ordinary weekends long after Christmas.
Clothing with a bit more personality
Older kids often have clear opinions about what they wear. Clothing with a favourite colour, print or style tends to be appreciated more than something chosen purely on practicality, even if practicality still matters underneath.
Several pieces in this collection are certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, so they've been tested for harmful substances — still worth checking, even as children take on more of their own choices.
Colours and styles older kids choose for themselves
Christmas gifts for older kids in this collection come in a wide range of colours and styles, from calm navy and green to brighter red or yellow for children who like to stand out a little. Prints tend to reflect specific interests too, rather than generic patterns aimed at a whole age group.
Letting a child have some say in colour or style, even loosely, tends to make a gift feel more like theirs.
Choosing christmas gifts for older kids online
At this age, it helps to think about a child's actual interests rather than their age alone. Two seven-year-olds can want very different things, so a gift chosen around what a child already enjoys tends to go down better than one picked from a generic list.
For clothing, checking the size guide against current measurements is more reliable than age, since growth rates vary a good deal by this stage.
Pairing a main gift with something smaller
A bigger gift often sits well alongside something smaller for Christmas morning. Our stocking fillers work well for this age too, and our advent gifts for children make the weeks before Christmas a little more exciting.
By six and up, a good gift says a parent was paying attention. Browse the collection and find christmas gifts for older kids that actually match who they're becoming.
